A good friend actually managed to get a vertebral fracture while indoor bouldering yesterday and I know of one of the workers at my gym that managed to do the same (while climbing in another gym). While climbing up high with a belay is absolutely something I want to try, bouldering looks particularly interesting to me due to it's short but more intense bursts of technical puzzles.
